Jorge Donn

Jorge Donn (1940-1992) was an influential Argentine dancer and choreographer, primarily associated with contemporary dance and ballet. He gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, particularly known for his collaborations with the renowned choreographer Maurice Béjart. Donn's performances often blended classical ballet techniques with modern dance elements, creating a unique and expressive style. One of his most notable works is "Boléro," choreographed by Béjart to Maurice Ravel's composition, which catapulted both the piece and Donn to international acclaim. His interpretations were characterized by an emotional depth and a commanding physical presence, making him a central figure in Béjart's company, the Ballet of the Twentieth Century. Beyond his performances, Donn's impact on music and dance extends to his ability to bridge the gap between different artistic disciplines, inspiring future generations of dancers and choreographers. He is remembered for his contributions to both the ballet and contemporary dance worlds, where he helped elevate the art form in Argentina and abroad, making significant strides in the integration of music and movement.
